What Does the Bible Say About Repentance?

Jesus began to preach and say, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” (Matthew 4:17).

The Lord…is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance. (2 Peter 3:9).

And Jesus said to them, “Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer and rise again from the dead the third day; and that repentance for forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed in His name to all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem.” (Luke 24:46-47).

Therefore having overlooked the times of ignorance God is now declaring to men that all everywhere should repent, because He has fixed a day in which He will judge the world in righteousness through a Man whom He has appointed, having furnished proof to all men by raising Him from the dead. (Acts 17:30-31).

Repent therefore and return, that your sins may be wiped away, in order that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord. (Acts 3:19).
