What Does the Bible Say About Our Thoughts?

The LORD searches all hearts, and understands every intent of the thoughts. (1 Chronicles 28:9).

Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; and let him return to the LORD, and He will have compassion on him; and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon.  “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways,” declares the LORD.  For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts. (Isaiah 55:7-9).

Search me, O God, and know my heart; try me and know my anxious thoughts; and see if there be any hurtful way in me, and lead me in the everlasting way. (Psalm 139:23-24).

We are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ. (2 Corinthians 10:5).

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. (Philippians 4:6, NIV).
