Now when [Hannah] had weaned [Samuel], she took him up with her…and brought him to the house of the LORD in Shiloh, although the child was young…And she said, “…For this boy I prayed, and the LORD has given me my petition which I asked of Him. So I have also dedicated him to the LORD.” (1 Samuel 1:24-28).
I am mindful of the sincere faith within you [Timothy], which first dwelt in your grandmother Lois, and your mother Eunice, and I am sure that it is in you as well…From childhood you have known the sacred writings which are able to give you the wisdom that leads to salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. (2 Timothy 1:5, 3:15).
When Herod’s birthday came, the daughter of Herodias danced before them and pleased Herod. Thereupon he promised with an oath to give her whatever she asked. And having been prompted by her mother, she said, “Give me here on a platter the head of John the Baptist.” (Matthew 14:6-8).
